Parents of blind children, teachers, people in workplaces where braille is used, can now read braille easily, electronically. O.B.R. is optical
character recognition software that reads Braille. Place a Braille copy on
a Hewlett Packard scanner. Scan the Braille document using the O.B.R.
program. O.B.R. will then convert the Braille copy back to text or save
the Braille document to disk as a formatted Braille file. Old copies of
Braille books and documents in libraries that are not on disk or in print
any longer can be scanned and reprinted using a modern Braille Embosser or
saved for future use. O.B.R. reads most copies of Braille, so if the
master of a book is lost, and all that may be available is a Thermoform
copy, O.B.R. will read it. The copy made with O.B.R. will be accurate.
When O.B.R. is used with an Index Braille embosser, O.B.R. converts your
computer to a Braille copy machine.

A Demo version of the OBR program is available. It is a limited version where you can scan Braille up to 6 Braille lines per page, use the different translation codes etc. for evaluation purposes. The DEMO version can not be used for any "normal" use, as the save, print and all clipboard functions are disabled. OBR Demo comes with two disks, calibration sheet and yellow correction filter. |
